Terms and Conditions for Political Contributions

Terms and Conditions for Political Contributions

By making a contribution to Friends of Melfi for County Clerk ("the Committee"), you acknowledge and agree to the following terms:

1. Eligibility

Contributions in $USD may only be made by individuals who are United States citizens or lawfully admitted permanent residents. Contributions from foreign nationals, corporations, labor organizations, federal contractors, or other prohibited sources are not accepted and will be returned.

2. Contribution limits

All contributions are subject to applicable New Jersey state campaign finance limits. Contributions exceeding the legal maximum will be returned to the donor. You are responsible for ensuring your contribution does not cause you to exceed applicable limits.

3. Personal funds only

By contributing, you certify that the funds are your own and are not being made on behalf of any other person or entity. Contributions made in the name of another person (straw contributions) are prohibited by law.

4. Disclosure and reporting

The Committee is required by New Jersey law to publicly report the name, address, occupation, and employer of donors who contribute above certain disclosure thresholds. By contributing, you consent to such disclosure as required by applicable law.

5. Non-refundable

Except as required by law (e.g., contributions from prohibited sources or over the legal limit), all contributions are non-refundable. The Committee retains sole discretion over how funds are spent in furtherance of its campaign activities.

6. Tax status

Contributions to Friends of Melfi for County Clerk are not tax-deductible for federal or state income tax purposes. The Committee is a political committee, not a charitable organization.

7. Voluntary

All contributions are entirely voluntary. No contribution is required as a condition of employment, membership, or any other benefit.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey and applicable federal campaign finance law, including regulations administered by the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC) and the Federal Election Commission (FEC), as applicable.

The Committee will never sell, rent, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to any third party for commercial or marketing purposes. Your personal data is not a commodity — it belongs to you.

5. Public disclosure

As a registered political committee, certain contribution information — including donor name, address, employer, occupation, and amount — is required by law to be disclosed in public filings above applicable thresholds. This disclosure is a legal obligation and is separate from any privacy commitment made here.

6. Data security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. Online contributions are processed through secure, encrypted connections. However, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
